How To Become An Expert

I received a message from a guy who wants to make money online but claims to be an amateur in everything and can not make money.

My answer was that they could become an expert in anything. So I created a plan for them, here is what you need to do to become an expert in anything.

Why so many people do not make money online?

Many people do not make money online because they lack skills, so do not offer any value in the marketplace.

The amount of money you make depends on how you contribute to the community around you, so you need to know something valuable to other people and they will pay you for that.

The fact is, this online game is moving fast. And while you’re waiting to feel perfectly ready, other people are getting out there, learning as they go — building audiences and making sales. And you can too.

Because expertise is relative.

If you know more than your target audience about a specific topic, you have valuable knowledge to pass along. And when you start sharing that knowledge and helping other people, that experience of sharing deepens your expertise.

How To Become An Expert

I will share my 90-day plan to become an expert in anything, if you follow this plan in 90 days you should be able to build your knowledge, build your audience, and start monetizing.

Select the skill or skills you want to become an expert

Analyze what you are good at, what you want to learn what you want to do, and what people can pay you, this will give you the map and the skill gap, you need to know where you are at and what you need to learn.

For example, let’s say you want to learn how to create landing pages, marketing, and copywriting, now ask yourself what do you know about these skills? if you know nothing that is okay it is time to learn.

If you do not know what you want to do, take a day off, do nothing all day, just meditate and relax. At some time something will click on your mind and you will know exactly what you want to do. Trust me on this, it works.

This will take you a day or two.

Learn The Skills

This is where most people mix up, they do not learn a skill, my recommendation is to take 7 days to learn a skill.

I do not say that in 7 days you will be an expert, what I want you to do is find a course or YouTube channels that talk about the skills you want to learn, watch the videos, take notes, a lot of notes.

The idea of this step is to get familiar with the skill you want to learn and to know the words and terminology they use.

Define Your Ideal Customer

Once you’ve identified your specific area of competence, and you have an idea of what is needed to learn your skill, it’s time to figure out who you’re a few steps ahead of. These are people who will benefit the most from your knowledge and skills.

Go to social media, you can start with the big ones, X, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, etc, and see what is happening there, what is being shared, and who you can help.

Create an Account

Now you know where your ideal customers are located, go to that social media, and create an account, use your name if it is possible, use your photo, and do not create a faceless social media account.

Make sure you optimize your account, add a photo and a batter, and a short description of what you want to do.

You can connect with me on X, here.

Start Creating Content

When it comes to content creation, I don’t want you to wait until you feel fully prepared. That day will never come.

Just start sharing what you’re learning during your sprint. Get on LinkedIn, X, Instagram, or whatever platform your audience hangs out on.

Start Creating Content

When it comes to content creation, I don’t want you to wait until you feel fully prepared. That day will never come.

Just start sharing what you’re learning during your sprint. Get on LinkedIn, X, Instagram, or whatever platform your audience hangs out on.

Here are some content ideas you can share right away:

A personal story
An observation
A contrarian take
A list of tools/learnings
A prediction about the future
A comparison (x vs. y)

Create content and publish it. Analyze what works and what doesn’t. And do more of the good stuff.

Engage With Niche Communities

Once you immerse yourself in a topic, you’ll start to find places where your ideal customers hang out. Join online communities, and start participating.

I am a member of various online communities, add value to those communities and people will start liking and following you.

Find an online community, get in there, answer questions, share your experiences, and connect with interesting people.

Your goal is to broaden your network and get a deeper understanding of your customer needs.

Collaborate

When your content starts getting traction and your network starts growing, collaboration is a natural next step.

Reach out to creators in adjacent niches. Suggest a collaboration — joint live streams, podcast interviews, or co-created content. If you do this well, your audience will start growing even faster.

Build Your Email List

Create a simple landing page and start building your email list, these are people who are interested in learning more from you, so make sure you add it to your social media accounts.

When people start joining your email list, send them emails to teach and educate them about what they need to know, and share your stories, your successes and failures.

Share with them the tools you use, most of these tools have an affiliate program, get the link and send it to them, if they join using your link you can make some money.

If you offer coaching or have a product, you can send them a link to that product or a booking page so that they can get a chance to work with you more closely.

Key Takeaway: How To Become An Expert

Follow this game plan for 90 days, and you’ll:

And you’ll get some momentum! You’ll be out there — taking action and sharing your knowledge, instead of waiting on the sidelines.

Remember, every day new people are discovering the internet for the first time, and to them, you are an expert.
