I have been using ActiveCampaing for more than a year now and I can say that is going well for me, that is why I decided to write this ActiveCampaign review and share with you my experience using this software.
There’s absolutely no denying that if you wish to be highly profitable online, you MUST build an email list.
Selling to warm leads and existing customers is far easier than trying to convert cold visitors (prospects).
This is why you see marketers constantly parroting the quote, “The money is in the list!”
That’s definitely true. However, let’s not forget a crucial component in all of this. The money may be in the list – but where you keep the list matters greatly too.
The best way to build your list will be to use a reputable autoresponder. Since this is a very profitable online business model, there are many large companies offering email marketing services.
So which will you choose?
They’re all not made equal. Some are infinitely better than others. So you have to pick an autoresponder carefully.
My ActiveCampaign Review
I have used most autoresponders in the market, from Getrespose, Aweber, Gvo, Convertkit, etc.
All of them are great tools but for me, ActiveCampaign is the best email marketing tool we have in the market.
After using many autoresponders, I came to the conclusion that Aweber is the best autoresponder for beginners in affiliate marketing, Convertkit is the best autoresponder for content creators who wants simple yet effective software to communicate with their followers, and ActiveCampaign is the best for affiliate marketers, content creators and entrepreneurs who want to maximize their R.O.I using email marketing
If you have been in this business for some time you will see most experienced marketers use ActiveCampaign.
Very often, the name Active Campaign will make an appearance and you’ll see marketers raving about it. But does it live up to the hype?
Why ActiveCampaign is the best Autoresponder?
There are many reasons why ActiveCampaign is the best autoresponder but for me, these are 7 reasons why I fell in love with ActiveCampaign.
Excellent deliverability
If you use a lot of effort and money to collect email addresses, you need to make sure that all the messages you send to your list go into their inbox.
This is what we call deliverability, the percentage of the emails you send that actually hit your subscriber’s inboxes, your subscribers will not be able to read your emails if they can not get them.
Active Campaign has a higher deliverability rate than most of the other autoresponders such as AWeber, ConvertKit, GetResponse, and more.
If you’re looking for an email marketing tool that will get your emails into the subscribers’ inboxes most of the time, you need Active Campaign. This is one of its strongest features.
Free Migration
I worked in customer service for some time, and one thing I know frustrates many customers is the pain to move everything from the old platform to a new one.
ActiveCampaign removes this pain from their new customers as they will move everything from your old autoresponder for you, for free.
Stuck with another email marketing company and want to move?
Active Campaign will migrate your lists and everything else along with it over to their side – for free.
You won’t need to do a thing. They’ll do it all for you and you can email your list from the Active Campaign interface.
Templates, templates, and more templates
As entrepreneurs we do not have a lot of time to do everything from scratch, that is the reason we have processes and templates in place to help us to do our tasks easier and faster.
Sending emails has never been easier. Active Campaign has 125+ email templates that you can use.
Unlike ConvertKit which sends mostly text-based emails, with Active Campaign, you just need to load one of their email templates, make a few tweaks, post your content and you’re good to go.
Besides email templates, there are 50+ landing page templates too.
On a tight budget and don’t wish to pay for a page builder?
No worries. You can still use Active Campaign’s landing pages to build your list. The landing pages may be basic and not have the bells and whistles that page builders such as Clickfunnels or Leadpages have – but they still get the job done and you’ll build your list.
Split testing
Split testing is the ability to send one email with different subject lines or call to action to test how your list responds and this will help you to write better emails and subject lines and hence increase your profit.
Yes! Active Campaign will allow you to split-test your emails, subject lines, and more… if you want to.
Excellent support
One of the main reasons I decided to leave Convertkit, was their support, it is not the worst but most of the time they used to frustrate me a lot.
For example, one day I sent an email to my list, and the open rate was low, they decided to disable my account from sending emails ( which is fine), and I contacted their support, I had to chart with a bot for almost two days, and when the human came, she knew nothing about the issue, she had to escalate, it took two days to reopen my account.
If something like this happens in ActiveCampaign, they will tell you very quickly and they will tell you where they think the issue was and what needed to fix, this takes less than 10 minutes.
Their support desk is open 24/7 and you can contact them via live chat. You’ll not be left in the lurch. The staff at Active Campaign are responsive and capable.
Advanced customization features
Another thing I love about ActiveCampaign is that everything is customizable, you can use their visual aids to design a simple or a complex follow-up campaign.
You can segment your list depending on actions they take, you can add tags to your list depending on what they buy or which link they click. Your imagination is the limit here.
Lots of advanced features too
Most autoresponder tools pack a ton of features. Going into them in detail here is unnecessary because you’ll be better informed by visiting Active Campaign’s official website.
But here’s a quick list of some of the features you’ll find in Active Campaign: segmentation, site and event tracking, predictive content, split automation, contact scoring, SMS marketing, attribution reporting, and more.
The Cons of ActiveCampaign
Like everything in life, ActiveCampaign is not perfect, it has some issues that you need to consider before you decide to join them.
They could improve the interface
Active Campaign doesn’t really have a neat interface and can be difficult to navigate. You may need to watch the tutorials and go through the learning curve before being able to use it proficiently.
It is not beginner friendly
If you are just starting out with affiliate marketing and email marketing probably the best option for you is Aweber, Actually, I have a post where I explain why Aweber is the best Autoresponder for beginners.
This is not an autoresponder for total newbies to email marketing. The sheer number of features and reporting capabilities can make it seem overwhelming to the beginner.
Furthermore, the pricing does jump significantly when you go from Lite to the Plus or Professional packages.
It is not affiliate marketing friendly
Affiliate marketing on the platform is another iffy issue. While Active Campaign says they allow it, the terms are not transparent because they also say, “Do not send emails with the sole purpose of promoting another product or business.”
This line instantly shuts out most affiliate marketers who only promote affiliate products. So if you’re an affiliate marketer, you’ll want to go with autoresponders like AWeber or GetResponse which are far more lenient.
If you send an email with a direct link to an affiliate product from a known affiliate network, they will not let you send it probably they will ask you to remove it, and if you keep doing it they will shut down your account.
This is the main reason I will not recommend it for beginners because first you need to send the subscribers to a landing page and then to an affiliate product, and this can take time to learn.
Should You Get It?
It depends on your needs. This is an autoresponder that needs more thought before purchase.
If you’re doing basic email marketing, you really don’t need Active Campaign. Go with Aweber.
However, if you’re already with another email marketing service and you need a more robust platform with advanced features and analytics, Active Campaign is probably the better choice for you.
